Joplin is nestled in the Southwest corner of Missouri on historic Route 66 and is the hub for the surrounding area, from which tens of thousands are attracted daily to visit and work. Its downtown area bustles with the activity of local business and special events. For instance, community and the arts are celebrated each month through Joplin’s “Third Thursday” and “Thursday Art Walk.”
Educational opportunities are an important component of the community and along with the Joplin School District, there are three outstanding private school districts educating the young people of the city. Also, Joplin is home to both Missouri Southern State University (est. 1937) and The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, which opened its Joplin campus in 2017. There are technical school opportunities available as well through Franklin Technology Center and WTI.
Last, but not least, Joplin offers state-of-the-art healthcare to its residents and those from surrounding communities. In addition to numerous clinics and physician’s offices, Mercy Hospital and Freeman Hospital are both located on the south side of the city and are equipped to provide a wide variety of services to patients.
